The first two questions people often ask Dr. Brown are how tall are you and did you play basketball? Well, he is 67 and yes, he did play basketball in college. Now that is out of the way, on to the good stuff!� Dr. Brown attended medical school in Phoenix, where he knew right away that he wanted to care for everyone of all ages, or womb to tomb and everything in between as some say. As a family doc, he also works in rural emergency rooms and various hospitals in the area to keep his skills sharp. He has a passion for using lifestyle and food as medicine, and you will often hear him say life is motion and motion is medicine. After school, the mountains called him and his family back, and they couldn�t say no to living in Erie, CO. Dr. Brown, his wife Dani, and their three kids have felt the heart and soul of the Erie community grow for the past few years, and they are wanting to continue to part of it both personally and professionally for decades to come. In his spare time Dr. Brown is an avid road cyclist, basketball dunker, and anything-in-the-mountains enthusiast. Although, he has been compared to a baby giraffe by other people who have watched him ski. Let�s just say its a work in progress.
Sara Schuster, MD, was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado where she grew up skiing, hiking, and soaking up the high-altitude sun! She attended the Colorado School of Mines where she received her degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. While obtaining her undergrad degree she also met her wonderful husband, a fellow Colorado native, avid outdoorsman, and proud Mines engineer. Dr. Schuster loved engineering, but she knew that her passion was always in medicine. After she completed her undergrad degree, she knew that her next step would be attending medical school so that she could pursue her passion. She attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where on her second day of medical school, she knew that she was meant to be a family physician. She fell in love with the idea of practicing medicine for everyone; old, young, pregnant, seriously ill, completely well, and everyone in-between! Dr. Schuster is very proud to be able to grow her passion for preventative care, full scope family medicine, and patient centered care. Outside of medicine she loves spending time outside, mogul skiing, backpacking, practicing yoga, and cooking.
I was born and raised in Longmont, Colorado. I attended Colorado State University for undergrad and attended�PA school in Chicago. Outside of vacations, I have only left our beautiful state long enough to live in Mexico for a couple months to study Spanish and then Chicago for PA school. I have been practicing Family Medicine for nearly 20 years. I have a passion for preventive medicine, so I love to focus on nutrition, fitness and lifestyle to form a solid foundation of health in my patients. Throughout my years in practice I have been fortunate to work in a small practice that always focused on patient care over profit, and now when it seems corporate medicine and insurance is taking over, I am thrilled to join the Strive team where the focus is on patients and getting back to what Primary Care should look like. My husband Casey and I have two beautiful teenagers, Riley and Cole, and we spend our free time skiing as a family, although I can hardly keep up these days, and watching our kids excel in their many extracurricular activities.
